Captain's Message 2019

As I begin my second year as County Captain, I would like to thank you all for your support and loyalty during 2018.

Although we had a disappointing final result at County Match Week, I could not have asked for a better effort from the team who fought hard against very tough competition. They were a credit to the County. It was wonderful, too, to see so many supporters who travelled to Huddersfield to boost morale. I sincerely hope that, as Durham are hosting the event this year, many more of you will come along. It is a wonderful experience and the atmosphere is really exciting.

I must also thank everyone who supported our competitions and look forward to seeing you all again this year. Perhaps you could encourage some new competitors and convince them that they are open to and enjoyed by golfers of all abilities. We are not elitist!

Best wishes to all of you for a Happy, Healthy 2019, blessed by good luck, good golf, and, hopefully, good weather.

As I said last year, I am extremely proud and honoured to be Captain of Durham County and I will  continue to do my best for you this year.

Captain’s Charity 2019

As many of you will know, I have decided to stay with “Daft as a Brush” as my chosen charity.

Thanks to your magnificent efforts and generous contributions, we managed to donate £7,100 in November. I am very grateful for the funds you raised at Coffee Mornings and other events, which I really enjoyed. I trust that I can rely on your continued support in 2019 – any and all contributions are welcome.

Our Charity Texas Scramble raised over £900 in 2018 and I look forward to seeing many of you at this year’s Scramble at Teesside on July 7th.
