County Mixed Foursomes

The Final Round of the County Mixed Foursomes was played at Darlington Golf Club on Sunday, September 15th.

Finalists were Brancepeth Castle, who defeated Consett & District in the Semi-Final, and Durham City, who won their match against South Moor. Brancepeth soon took the lead and managed to get 4Up before Durham turned the match around, finishing All Square after 18 holes. After two fantastic drives on the 19th, it looked as though the match might go into several extra holes. However, Brancepeth's Lyn Davison holed their second shot to win the match with an eagle. It was Lyn's first game in the competition - she stepped in when Marianne Moore, who had competed in the earlier rounds, was unable to play. Her partner, Alasdair Baird, had represented the club in all the earlier rounds. Durham City were represented by mother and son, Louise and Jack Richardson, the current Club Champions. Spectators were treated to an inspiring display of excellent golf and teamwork in a close and exciting match.

Congratulations to Brancepeth Castle, who have enloyed a very successful season in 2019.
