Junior County Championship

The Junior County Championship was held at Whitburn Golf Club on Saturday 20th July.  The conditions were appalling. It was warm but wet with very heavy showers. The rain came down like stair rods and drenched the girls in minutes. In spite of being soaked to the skin the girls still had smiles upon their faces - could have been hysteria!  There were some great resuts and some excellent golf.

The Championship was won by Kitana Hollins with a gross 151 for the 36 holes. The runner up was Amy Sutheran with a gross 166. The best net was won by Molly Nisbet with a net 138. Molly had an amazing net 64 on the final 18 holes!  All three girl are from Wynyard Golf Club.

The 18 hole Stableford Competition was won by Cassidy Hamilton from Bishop Auckland with 37 points.  The runner up was Lilly Davis from Durham City with 36 points, narrowly beating Abbie Brown from Wynyard on a back nine countback.

It was a great day, enjoyed by all in spite of the weather.  Huge congratulations to all of the girls for their determination and positivity in spite of the weather. A big thank you to Whitburn Golf Club for hosting the event.  The course held up brilliantly with the flooded greens clearing quickly between showers.

We are now looking forward to going to York for the Junior Jamboree with our fingers crossed tightly for much better weather.
