Mrs Margaret Dietz

July 16 1932 – January 15 2019

Sadly, Margaret Dietz, Vice-President of the DCLGA, died in hospital on January 15th, following a brief illness occasioned by a fall at Christmas.

Margaret was a long-serving and valued member of the Association. A member of Eaglescliffe Golf Club, where she served as Lady Captain from 1990-1991, she was a tireless supporter of club events, where she was a familiar face “on the desk”.

County members will remember Margaret as a friendly, sociable lady. She was elected to the role of Treasurer in 1996 and served until 2009. Margaret was extremely efficient and conscientious, carefully controlling expenditure and seeking new ways to increase income. Many of you will remember her selling raffle tickets - “Special Offer of the Day: Tickets 50 pence each, two for £1” She always raised a smile, and usually sold two tickets!

Margaret attended every single County Event, arriving before the first players and leaving after the last. The annual Swap Shop was Margaret’s idea – she loved meeting everyone and promoting County activities for the coming year.

Following her “retirement” Margaret continued to support the County, helping with raffles and acting as Starter. Such was her dedication, she even served an extra six months as an “ex-officio” member of Committee to ease the new Treasurer into her role.

In 2011, in recognition of her many years of loyalty and support, Margaret was made a Vice-President of the Association.

On behalf of the Committee and members of DCLGA, I offer sincere condolences to Margaret’s surviving family members, particularly her sister, Barbara, and her nephew and niece, Michael and Wendy. She will be greatly missed.

Margaret’s funeral service will be held on Friday February 1st at 1pm. at Kirkleatham Memorial Park and Crematorium, Fishpond Road, Redcar. TS11 8HH
