Volunteer Vacancies

Ladies, we are looking for voulunteers to fill the following vacancies as they arise.

County Training Officer: Required from November 2019.

The Training Officer is responsible for team coaching, selection, organizing practice/training sessions, morale building. She will be expected to attend the annual Northern Counties'Match Week as a residential coach/supervisor/chaperone. Applications are invited from anyone who feels she has the relevant playing/coaching/team-management experience. Previous experience as a County Golfer is desirable, but not essential. The Training Officer need not be a member of the County Committee but she will be expected to submit regular reports to that Committee during the season.

County Secretary: Required from November 2019

The County Secretary is responsible for all County Correspondence, local and national; for recording, disseminating and filing Minutes from all meetings, including the AGM. She is the initial point of contact by telephone, mail or email. Applicants need to have computer/office skills and a knowledge of County procedures. The Secretary also needs good communication skills as she must deal with National, County and Club Officials as well as lady members. Advanced knowledge of Golf Rules, Handicaps, Competitions etc is not absolutely necessary since the County has specialists to deal with these matters.

The current Secretary took on the post for one year only - she is not resigning because of pressure of work or dissatisfaction, a point she has asked me to stress.

"Shadow Junior Organiser"

As the current Junior Organiser is due to "retire" in 2020, she feels it will be helpful for any prospective successor(s) to shadow her work, to learn what is involved, with a view to taking over at the end of 2020.

Applicants will need good organisational skills, experience of working with Juniors/Parents. The Junior Organiser is responsible for coaching programmes at all levels, working closely with the DCGU and other local and national groups. Computer skills, Social Media experience and good communication skills are essential. The County has an enthusiastic, hard-working Junior Committee who help out at all training/recruitment sessions as well as at matches and competitions. Above all, applicants need to be friendly, approachable and enthusiastic. "Specialist" skills can be learned.

Anyone interested in any of the above vacancies can contact the Captain, Secretary or Junior Organiser to answer any questions or provide further information.

We are "advertising" now in the hopes of reaching as many of you as possible and to allow plenty of time for consideration and consultation. All County Officials are volunteers - we did it, so can you!
