CAPTAINS' SOCIETY - ABOUT

The Lady Golf Captains’ Society was formed early in the 1960’s to attract the Captains of County clubs to form a society.  The first Captain of the Society was Mrs. J. Wood in 1964 and the first President was Mrs. D Wilson who was appointed in 1983.  At that time there were over 500 members.  Although the Society numbers have dropped in recent years it is hoped the Society is still known as “The Friendly Society” and will continue for many years to come.  Three competitions are played annually with the matches against Northumberland each year and a match against Harrogate and District played bi-annually.

JOINING THE LADY GOLF CAPTAINS’ SOCIETY

Only when you have served or been appointed as a Captain can you become a member of The Lady Captains’ Society.  You may join at any time in the year, as the Society realises that the appointment of a Captain does not occur at the same time for every club. Please feel free to contact either Anne Dunn, Secretary at annecapsec1963@btinternet.com or Treasurer, Karen Vasey at karenvaseytreasurer@btinternet.com for further information.  The cost to become a member of The Lady Golf Captains’ Society is only £4 and the fee to enter competitions is £6.

President Vivienne Atkinson and newly elected Captain Ann Corbett.
