Shannon O'Dywer (Wynyard) and Jess Hall (Bishop Auckland) both qualified for the matchplay stages of the English Ladies Championship held at Moortown Golf Club near Leeds. In their first matchplay games both came up against opponents from Northumberland, Jess playing Jess Baker and after a close match Jess lost 4&3. Shannon played against Rosie Belsham who was part of the England's Gold medal team at the European Ladies Team in Ireland recently. Shannon played some amazing golf winning on the last hole.
In the last 16 of the championship Shannon beat Katy Yates of Clacton on Sea winning 3&2. What a brilliant achievement to reach the last 8 where Shannon came up against Annabelle Fuller another member of the winning Gold Team, losing 4&3.
Shannon attributed her success to being able to get up and down with her short game being her strength throughout the week.
