2024 Junior County Captain Morgan Bailey held her Junior Captains Day on Sunday 8 September 2024 at South Moor Golf Club. Despite wet and foggy conditions, the girls took part in an American Texas Scramble and played some excellent golf. All the teams gelled especially as some of them had not met each other and a handicap range of 6 to 54.
The winning team of Scarlette Richardson, Emily Holgate, Sorcha Bond and Essy Nichol had 56.6 with the team of Izzy Stokes, Lisa Conboy Bryson, Thalia Crabtree and Olivia Livingstone in second place with 63.5. Caylin Million, Nixie Corcoran, Daisy Allom and Theresa Anderson came in third with 65.
Nearest the pin was awarded to Daisy Allom on the first, Emily Holgate on the third, Nixie Corcoran on the eleventh and Scarlette Richardson on the fourteenth.
A raffle and tombola were also held with proceeds going to Lady Captain's Charity at South Moor and the Junior County. A fantastic £150.00 was presented to South Moor lady captain Lillian Blench with £174.00 going to the girl’s junior county. A massive thank you to all who donated prizes and bought tickets.
Morgan loved her Junior Captain’s Day and was on hand to supply all the players with on course refreshments which were very much appreciated in the damp and foggy conditions.
The successful day could not have happened without the hard work of many which include all at South Moor Golf Club, Morgan and all her family, County Captain Wendy Mabbott, the course walkers Christine Mair, Marian Goodyear, Ann Bowen, all the players and their families and supporters.
